The dataset uses CMAQ version 5.0.2 to simulate the spatiotemporal distribution of near-surface VOCs across mainland China on a 36 km × 36 km grid. The model is driven by WRF meteorological fields, uses SMOKE-processed emission inputs, and provides hourly concentrations for 33 VOC species to support multi-pollutant exposure assessment and environmental health research.

  • The CMAQ simulations captured the overall temporal variation of total VOCs and the timing of major pollution episodes; correlations between simulated and ground-observed concentrations were 0.76, 0.77, and 0.75 for alkanes, alkenes, and alkynes, respectively.
  • CMAQ-simulated near-surface formaldehyde showed overall strong spatial agreement with TROPOMI-retrieved tropospheric formaldehyde column concentrations, with positive correlations across most of China and a southeast-to-northwest gradient that remained generally stable from 2019 to 2022.
  • CMAQ模拟较好地捕捉了总VOCs的总体时间变化及主要污染事件的发生时段;烷烃、烯烃和炔烃模拟值与北京地面观测的相关系数分别为0.76、0.77和0.75。
